Beauty school dropout!
January Jones took to Instagram on Thursday, March 12, to reveal that she was going “#backtomyroots.” However, the pink cream that saturated the natural blonde’s roots told a different color story.
The Mad Men actress, 37, who last rocked the rosy hue via highlights in 2012, shared snaps from her 2015 dye session and the moments immediately after, when her blush tresses were blown out and styled.
Jones’ inspiration? Grease‘s resident makeup maven! “Call me ‘Frenchie,'” she captioned the second shot, referencing the musical’s beauty school student Frenchy (played by Didi Conn in the classic 1978 movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John) who famously, accidentally dyes her hair bubblegum pink.
While the X-Men actress, who’s also tried red and brunette locks in the past, told ABC News in 2013 that she prefers her own light blonde hair best, she also confessed, “I like all colors—it makes you feel different according to what color.”
That said, the color chameleon also admitted to the perils of repeat dyes. “I have been every color, and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” the mom to Xander, 3, lamented at the time. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig!”
Mad Men‘s seventh and final season is set to premiere Sunday, April 5, on AMC at 10 p.m. EST.
