Home really is where the heart is for Lauren Scruggs and Jason Kennedy. After all, who wouldn’t want to hang around the house if it looked like theirs! Married since December 2014, the Your Beautiful Heart author, 26, and her E! News husband, 33, recently remodeled their Los Angeles home, and Us Weekly has a peek inside their stunningly gorgeous digs.
Mixing her home furnishings with Kennedy’s wasn’t a problem for Scruggs, who told Us she gave her old furniture new life in the home they now share. “When you’re moving in together for the first time, you want to be able to include pieces that are stylish without being overly feminine. Jason and I have similar tastes and both love neutral tones,” said Scruggs, who made a couch she’s had for years a focal point in their new living room. “This couch ended up being a perfect fit for our new home, which I’m thrilled about because it reminds me of all the amazing times I had in that apartment!”
Avid dinner party hosts, the newlyweds took special care when setting up their new dining room. Keeping the color scheme neutral, Scruggs used dinnerware and accents from HomeGoods to add personalized flair. “It’s important to have at least one room where you spend time together and enjoy each other, whether it’s just the two of us or a group of friends,” the fashion journalist and model said. “For us, it’s the dining room because Jason and I are always having friends over, and I love cooking!”
The couple – who met after Kennedy’s E! colleague Giuliana Rancic interviewed Scruggs – also makes sure to have flowers and photos of their travels in each room. And they have a backyard that’s just as fabulous as the rest of their home, with sprawling L.A. views.
Using outdoor lanterns, chevron-printed pillows and poufs for extra seating, Kennedy and Scruggs created an extension of their indoor space around their fire pit. “It’s super important that your guests are comfortable, so we’ve outfitted the area with tons of plush pillows and soft throws,” said Scruggs.
In March, Scruggs opened up about married life to Today‘s Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. “Life is awesome,” said Scruggs, whose book details the aftermath of the freak 2011 accident in which she lost her left eye and left arm to a plane propeller. “[My story] shows that through tragedy, there’s always a brighter side. I mean, life is better now, which is crazy, and I loved life before,” she said.
