Jennie Garth is going goth! The 41-year-old actress looked nearly unrecognizable while making a surprise appearance on the runway at designer Aerin O’Connell‘s Intrepid by AOC show at Pier 59 Studios during Nolcha Fashion Week present by RUSK on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Garth showed off her legs and strutted her stuff down the catwalk in a short gray-and-white striped dress with sheer white sleeves. The most shocking part of the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum’s Fashion Week look, however, was her severe makeup. Garth’s face was transformed with super-light face powder, heavy blush and eye makeup, and super-dark lipstick.
“Jennie closed the show as a surprise guest,” an eyewitness tells Us Weekly. “She was confident and looked powerful coming down the runway and had two friends in the audience who were cheering loudly for her.”
How did Garth feel about her runway walk?
“Totally foreign, not my world,” she told Us after the show. The mother of three said she last modeled at The heart Truth Red Dress fashion show — raising awareness of heart disease in women — five years ago. “I felt nervous for the designer of this dress, I wanted to do well for her and have success for the line,” Garth explained. “I just met her today and she’s a really nice lady and I want her to do well.”
As for her high-fashion makeup, Garth told Us, “I love the eyes and the slightly tousled hair.”
Garth’s stint as a New York Fashion Week model may be short-lived, however, as it sounds like she’s ready to head back home to the west coast. After the show, Garth tweeted that she was “missing my girls” and “missing my man.” As Us revealed last week, she is currently dating Michael Shimbo, the CEO of San Francisco-based company Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
When asked what she likes to do with Shimbo, Garth told Us, “It’s a new thing, so we’re really just dating. San Francisco is such a romantic city, so I just love walking around the fog covered streets and just being there is so romantic. I had never spent a lot of time there, but walking the streets, it’s like being in a romantic movie.”
