Everybody makes mistakes!
Even Jennifer Aniston went through awkward style and beauty phases, like rocking acid-wash denim and crunch hair gel.
“Sometimes you learn the hard way,” the Cake actress and Living Proof co-owner, 47, told Vogue. “Sometimes what’s in fashion isn’t always your best friend.”
In fact, the Friends alum would like to forget the entire decade of the 80s.
“There was a period where I cut my hair really, really short,” she said. “It was long on top, short on the sides. I think right above the ears — about an inch above — I shaved my head, and that was kind of a really bad look. It was like a faux kind of chicken shit mohawk.”
But in her own defense, she said that no one was safe back then: “There was a phase … where I don’t think anyone was sporting good hair and makeup,” the Aveeno ambassador joked.
The eighties may have been rough for Aniston, who married Justin Theroux in 2015, but she doesn’t mind the recent resurgence of 90s-inspired style.
“I have certain things I have yet to throw away from my days on Friends,” she admitted. “My red squared-toe loafers might actually be making a comeback…I also have those nice high-waisted jeans.”
Luckily, Aniston’s stylish stumbles provided well-learned lessons that she’s able to use today: “Emotionally and mentally, I would say it’s just about loving yourself and loving what you’ve been given,” she revealed. “Less is more, less makeup, less fuss.”
