It’s been over two decades since Jennifer Aniston rocked a haircut that was so famous it was synonymous with her, but the lasting impact of “The Rachel” is here to stay. It just so happens that Aniston is keenly aware of this fact. The actress and producer (not to mention have-er of perpetually good hair) paid tribute to the man behind it all (her mane, mostly), Chris McMillan, at the annual InStyle Awards sponsored by Fiji where he received the Hairstylist of the Year Award, on Monday, October 22, in L.A., and she offered some insightful tidbits on how style shaped her life and what it’s like to work with the hair pro.

On her most famous haircut, Aniston had this to say, “You leave [an appointment with Chris] and you feel beautiful, you feel sexy you feel alive, and then you feel screwed because no one actually has the ability to actually do what Chris did to this haircut.” She elaborated on her experience with the iconic ‘do, which she called “the Rachel years, “when I got that haircut that was like, ‘wow, this is amazing!’ And then I was totally left with this like frizzy mop on my head ‘cause I had no idea how to do what he did. No one seems to know how to do what Chris does, and I figured out that’s called creating job security. So well done, Chris,” she said. Clearly, Aniston and McMillan aren’t just a good hair duo, they are a funny one too.

The Breakup actress also shared some heartwarming tidbits about her longtime hair pro. For example, Aniston highlighted McMillan’s charitable endeavors explaining the lengths that he goes to donate haircuts to teachers and even help men and women who are going through chemo, “He just makes everyone feel better as much as look better. He’ll shave their heads with dignity and grace, and then he’ll cut their wigs to make them looks a gorgeous and feel as gorgeous as they did before.”

But the Friends icon also shared another tidbit about her longtime hairstylist: his clientele isn’t just star studded: “And if you’ve ever been around just within ten feet of Chris I’m sure he’s had his hands all over your hair, whether you wanted it or not. And we love that about you because the amount of photo shoots and films and commercials, everyone, usually 70 or 90 percent of the crew, if not all of them, leave with a McMillan haircut.”

BRB, considering changing our line of profession to get on set with Chris McMillan.
