Julianne Hough Wore a Pinterest-Inspired Embellished Updo for ‘Dancing With the Stars’: How Many Bobby Pins Did She Use?!

Doin’ it up big! Julianne Hough rocked an updo fit for a princess on the Monday, October 3, episode of Dancing With the Stars. The judge, 28, enlisted stylist Riawna Capri to style her blonde strands into an elegant braided bun glittering with jewels that complemented her sleeveless pink embroidered gown.

Capri, who also works with Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts, shared a series of Instagram photos of her creation before the show. The detailed photos show a series of braids held together together with bobby pins. Loose, wavy tendrils hung around Hough’s face, and a jewel-encrusted headband was wrapped around the entire style. “#pinterestinspired,” Capri captioned one black-and-white upload. In another shot, Capri gave more insight into how she achieved the look. “✨ Loved this one so much, gotta show ya the other side 😍 How did I do it you ask??? 2 fat disheveled braids + about 39 bobbypins & 4 headpieces to make 1 …,” she wrote.

The shot also displayed Hough’s metallic gray eyelids, rosy cheeks and berry pink lips. In a separate Instagram post, makeup artist Spencer Barnes shared the products used to paint her pout. “#charlottetilbury lip cheat lip liner in iconic nude, #lorac highly pigmented lipstick in duches, and #lorac alter ego lip gloss in girl next door,” the pro wrote in a comment.

Hough’s glam wasn’t the only statement-making moment of the episode. Contestant Amber Rose, who said that Hough body-shamed her for some sexy dance moves, apologized to the judge for the misunderstanding.

“Like I said in the package,” Rose remarked, referring to a clip that aired moments before addressing the incident, “When you said that, I felt very embarrassed, and I felt like you weren’t talking about my dance, but if I misunderstood, then I apologize.”

The Grease: Live! actress had insisted that she was just doing her job by critiquing the dancing, a “universal platform for people to express themselves.”
