Frizz control! Julianne Moore revealed why she doesn’t go out in public in the summer while she promoted her new movie, Freeheld, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, Oct. 7 — her frizzy hair.
The 54-year-old actress admitted that she actually doesn’t know how to blow dry her own hair, and consequently just “lets it go” during the summer. “I just like to rock my summer hair. It’s ‘wavy’ as I like to say, but really it’s frizzy,” she told host Ellen DeGeneres. “I try not to go anywhere because I can’t control my hair… Somebody said to me, ‘You did that to your hair!’ and I said, ‘Oh no, I woke up that way.”
DeGeneres, 57, took the opportunity to compare the selfie Moore shared to a common kitchen item. “It looks like Brillo pads,” she said. But the redheaded star took the joke well, laughing and saying, “That’s what my natural hair looks like. I try not to see anybody or have dinner with people. I just hang around with my family.”
Aside from Moore’s hair, the comedian and the Oscar winner talked most about the mom of two’s newest role in Freeheld. In the film, Moore plays a lung cancer sufferer who realizes her pension can’t pass on to her partner after her death. “It’s the [true] story of Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree (played by Ellen Page), the women who changed the domestic partnership act in New Jersey,” she told DeGeneres of the emotional flick.
