Retired soccer star Julie Ertz pulled together her ensemble for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s black-tie wedding in less than one day.
“I’m not gonna say too much, but I’m gonna say I had a very good time and that dance floor was very fun,” Julie, 34, said on the Tuesday, July 7, episode of her “Style of Play” podcast, teasing her attendance alongside her husband, NFL star Zach Ertz. “I love a good event to get ready for. I just love love. … It’s so fun to celebrate love.”
Zach, 35, and Julie were among the star-studded guests who saw Swift and Kelce, both 36, say “I do” on Friday, July 3, inside New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden arena.
The former Philadelphia Eagles athlete sported a dapper black tuxedo, while Julie opted for a strapless black gown with a sheer corset.
“There’s nothing like [going to a wedding] besides, like, the stress of finding a dress,” Julie quipped on the latest episode of her AMP Sports Original Series podcast. “My dress is still in customs somewhere. Trying to find a dress in 24 hours, let alone it being in New York, seemed insane.”
She continued, “And then on top of that, the stress of Zach as we’re about to leave being like, ‘Do you think I should have tried on my tuxedo?’ I honestly was like, ‘We’re a mess. There’s something wrong with us.’”
According to Julie, her husband also wondered whether he needed a bowtie for the special occasion.
“I was like, ‘I can’t with this man,’” she joked to podcast cohost Kealia Watt. “Nobody [there] knew how [to tie a bowtie]. Ninety-nine percent of everyone there was like, ‘No, [mine is] a clip-on.’ That’s actually the smartest way to do it. I tried so hard; it’s not easy.”
As for Swift and Kelce, the bride and groom each donned bespoke white creations from Christian Dior haute couture.
“The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks … [were] designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom,” Swift’s spokesperson told Us Weekly in a statement. “This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity.”
Swift’s gown, which a source exclusively told Us looked “classic and elegant,” also featured a lengthy train. She accessorized her bridal dress with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. As for Kelce, he similarly sported Louboutin shoes for the big day.
