Yeezy season again! Before New York Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, September 8, we were blessed with Kanye West‘s latest Yeezy collection (Season 4) — and not at Madison Square Garden like Season 3.
Scroll down for all the exclusive live updates, straight from Us Weekly staff reporter Gabrielle Bernardini, who was on the scene at Roosevelt Island. Plus, watch the re-show via the Tidal livestream below (for members only, sorry!).
5:04 p.m. ET: (back on the island) “People were calling Kanye‘s name. He smiled and put up a peace sign while walking out with Chanel.”
4:54 p.m. ET: People are slowly filing back out. And another Yeezy Season is in the books.
4:54 p.m. ET: (on the island) “Kanye just ran to see his family, then exited down a walkway with the models. Kim and the rest of the family walked down the pathway after him. They’re taking pictures while walking to their cars.”
4:53 p.m. ET: He just turned around suddenly and ran back down the runway.
4:53 p.m. ET: Kanye‘s walking up the runway, smiling (smiling!) and waving to the crowd.
4:53 p.m. ET: (Us HQ) Chanel Iman closed the show.
4:51 p.m. ET: This model. “She ended up just taking off her shoes and walking barefoot.” We’ve all been there:
4:50 p.m. ET: (back on the island) “The music is futuristic, like there’s a sci-fi theme.” (Ed. note: Yep, same on the livestream. Live long and prosper, everyone.)
4:46 p.m. ET: Teyana Taylor in the house, working that “Fade” body in a bra top and shorts. GIRL, GET IT.
4:45 p.m. ET: We spy Kim’s plastic boots — with what looks like condensation on the inside. We knew they had to be hot!
4:44 p.m. ET: Ack! One model just stepped (tripped?) off the stage to fix a wobbly heel. (Flashback to Carrie Bradshaw’s slightly disastrous NYFW turn. #NeverForget)
4:43 p.m. ET: There’s a model working Kim’s signature jacket-off-one-shoulder look, naturally.
4:41 p.m. ET: Kim is definitely living for all the over-the-knee boots in this collection.
4:38 p.m. ET: It’s happening! The livestream is on! And the models are walking.
4:37 p.m. ET: (update from Us HQ) The livestream stopped playing The Life of Pablo in favor of a very ominous beat with a touch of chanting. Outlander vibes, anyone?
4:35 p.m. ET: “Models are passing out left and right! Everyone around me is saying, ‘Start the damn show!'”
4:23 p.m. ET: “Oh, no! A lot of the models are sitting now, but one just dropped — like, straight-up fell — to the floor. Another model is helping her sit up and rubbing her arms. And another one just ran and grabbed a bottle of water for her!”
4:19 p.m. ET: “Kendall, Kylie and Tyga are here with Kim, but I haven’t seen Khloé or North yet. (Ed. note: Kourtney and Kris are currently vacationing in Italy.) They all walked to the back together.”
4:19 p.m. ET: At Us Weekly HQ, we’re still seeing NYC’s beautiful blue sky on the stream … and not the Yeezy Season 4 show. Come on, Tidal! Let Us in on the fun.
4:14 p.m. ET: “The models are wearing off-white, nude and chocolate-brown outfits. They’re in bodysuits, bike shorts, bralettes and crop tops. One girl who has been here since 9 a.m. told me that some of the models have been standing outside for the last five hours. Ah! There’s a low beat playing the background, like a drum. Kim is walking in now, and she’s making a big entrance. She’s taking pictures with Kylie and Kendall.”
4:08 p.m. ET: “We just made it up the stairs! The models are standing in formation in the open field. There are a few benches for people to sit.”
4:03 p.m. ET: “I’m in! There’s a big open space in front of a staircase, and the abandoned Smallpox Hospital is the backdrop. There are yellow and white Yeezy Season 4 T-shirts for sale for $75 each. A lot of people are standing under trees, staying out of the sun. We’re all waiting for something to happen.”
3:51 p.m. ET: “Standing at yet another check point. People are opening up umbrellas to shield themselves from the sun. They’re complaining about the heat and the wait. Everyone is fanning themselves with the cards we need to get in.”
3:40 p.m. ET: “Just overheard that the show’s getting pushed back to 4 p.m. — and that it could start even later than that! Still standing at the checkpoint with a herd of people.”
3:29 p.m. ET: “I’m standing at the next check point, and security just made everyone back up into the bushes. Cars are driving up and people are getting out, including [Kim Kardashian‘s best friend Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck.”
3:01 p.m. ET: “I’m here! Aaaand we’re walking to the next check point.”
2:54 p.m. ET: “Almost there! A rep just handed out neon flashcards to everyone. I’ll need this to get back on the bus. My card is bright green.”
2:29 p.m. ET: “We are still on the bus. The traffic is crazy. The bathroom door keeps swinging open every time we hit a turn. For the most part, the bus is relatively quiet. Some are conversing, but mostly people are just sitting on their phones. I overheard one girl say, ‘It feels like we are never getting there.’ I think everyone is starting to get antsy.”
1:37 p.m. ET: “Just checking in was so chaotic! They have people with iPads standing around, and everyone was huddled in groups trying to check in and get on the buses. (They’re luxury buses with bathrooms.) The ones working the check-in are screaming across to one another because they don’t know who was checked in and who was just trying to get on the bus.”
