We’re green with envy over Kate Middleton‘s gorgeous St. Patrick’s Day coat! The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, looked perfect in pine at the St. Patrick’s Day parade at Mons Barracks on Monday, March 17, in Aldershot, England. Click here to see more photos of Kate Middleton.
Last year on this day, Prince William‘s then-pregnant wife recycled the forest-green Emilia Wickstead dress coat she wore in 2012. This year, though, she debuted a new festively colored ensemble: an immaculately fitted Hobbs Persephone coat cinched at the waist with a belt, and the stylish Gina Foster beret she wore last Christmas.
Prince George‘s mom also wore a gold Cartier shamrock brooch, which was first worn by Queen Alexandra in 1901. Pine-green pumps completed the look.
The Duchess and her husband, 31 — who, as Colonel of the Irish Regiment, wore his military uniform — were at the event to visit the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, to whom they presented traditional shamrock sprigs.
The tradition of presenting shamrocks to Irish guards dates back to 1901. This year, Middleton presented approximately 300 sprigs at the parade — including one to the 1st Battalion’s mascot, Domhnall the Irish Wolfhound. “He’s handsome,” the Duchess cooed of the 19-month-old dog.
After the parade, the royal couple retreated to the mess hall, where they posed for photos with officers and sergeants. They also visited the Guardsmens’ cookhouse.
“It is matter of enormous privilege and pride to the Irish Guards that their Royal Highnesses the Colonel of the Regiment and the Duchess of Cambridge are visiting us today to present shamrock to the Battalion and to the London Regiment with which we are paired,” Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ed Boanas said.
During last year’s event, the Duchess memorably got her heel stuck in a drain pipe while moving down the line of guards. She had to lean on Prince William for support while she freed herself from the grate.
