The long and short of it! Katie Holmes rocked a bone-straight, waist-length hairstyle for the 2016 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala on Monday, May 2, in New York City. According to her hairstylist, DJ Quintero, the actress’ sleek hair wasn’t styled to go with her glimmering black Zac Posen gown and Cartier jewels — it was centered around her falsies!
“The whole feel became very Cher-esque; a ’70s throwback,” Quintero explained in a press release.
Quintero, who’s also worked with Diane Kruger and Sarah Jessica Parker, dampened Holmes’ hair with Alterna Haircare Caviar CC Cream before blow-drying and flatironing. Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Mist hid her extensions, and Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Working Hair Spray held everything down.
The Dawson’s Creek alum’s retro look is a sharp contrast from last year’s Met Gala style. For the event last year, Holmes, 37, donned a short bob wig with bangs … and tricked fans into thinking that she chopped off her hair by posing with a pair of scissors dangerously close to her locks.
