It’s official! After months of speculation, Vogue revealed just who’s starring on its coveted September issue for 2016: the fashion bible’s biggest darling, Kendall Jenner.
After countless features inside the mag over the last two years, the cover, which features Jenner, 20, in a mariachi-inspired Gucci ensemble, marks the model’s first September issue and her first official Vogue cover ever (save for one special-edition issue).
“In a room with a bunch of people I love, looking at this cover made me cry,” Jenner, while celebrating sister Kylie Jenner‘s 19th birthday in Turks and Caicos with Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, August 11. “I FUCKING DID IT. SEPTEMBER VOGUE. this is the coolest thing ever! can’t thank you enough Anna, for giving me the honor.”
She added, “@voguemagazine’s September issue, photographed by @mertalas and @macpiggott and styled by @tonnegood! See the cover story and photos in the link in my bio.”
Inside the issue, there are at least 13 more equally gorgeous images of the Estee Lauder brand ambassador in threads by Alexander Wang, John Galliano, The Row, Prada and Hood by Air, to name just a few. All of the shots show off Jenner’s fresh lob haircut, too, which, as Us Weekly exclusively reported in June, was just for a September-issue shoot. A source on the set of Jenner’s shoot told Us that the top makeup artists, hairstylists and photographers were brought in to style the model for the famed issue.
On going from an aspiring runway star to a Vogue cover girl in less than two years, Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian told Vogue simply, “She had her eyes focused on exactly what she wanted to do, and she made it happen.”
