Trickery! Kim Kardashian admitted that her blunt-cut lob hairstyle, debuted on July 30, was all smoke and mirrors.

“I’ve been saying for SO long that I want to cut my hair, so the day before Kylie’s event for Kylie Cosmetics, I decided to achieve the look a different way: a wig!” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, revealed via her website on Wednesday, August 3.

She even relished in the idea of fooling fans with the style, which she wore to Kylie Jenner‘s birthday bash at The Nice Guy in L.A. on July 31. “Everyone is saying I chopped my hair, but it’s all an illusion!” she wrote. The faux hair, which nearly matched her natural dark brunette locks, hit just below her collarbone in an angular, asymmetrical style.

Kardashian, who shares North, 3, and Saint, 7 months, with Kanye West, has celeb hairstylist Chris Appleton to thank for the ‘do. “I’m so obsessed,” she wrote. “He cut the wig into a lob and then made it SUPER straight and blunt.”

It’s not Kardashian’s first time wigging out; she also rocked hair pieces in Fergie‘s “M.I.L.F. $” music video and during West’s Yeezy presentation at New York Fashion Week in February 2016.

The Selfish author has yet to match her youngest sister’s wig stash, however. Jenner’s collection contains at least 19 colorful styles, including neon green, navy blue, tie-dye and coral tresses.

“Constantly changing up my style makes me feel creative and it helps me with my confidence. If any of you are going through something in your life and you want a change, experiment with your hair — it’s so much fun and you’ll feel totally liberated. It just makes me feel so good about myself,” Jenner wrote on her website in September 2015. “It makes me feel like a new person. I love feeling different, and I love leaving the house knowing that nobody has ever seen me this way.”
