Lorde's got it, and she's flaunting it!
Not only did the "Yellow Flicker Beat" belter pick up six golden statuettes at the 2014 New Zealand Music Awards in Auckland on Thursday, Nov. 20, but her sartorial choices for the evening were pretty applause-worthy, too.
Lorde, 18, walked the red carpet in a crisp white suit—a silhouette she often dons to big events. However, this time, she paired her separates with a festive red crop top and a matching scarlet statement lip—a look her crop top and red lip-loving bestie, Taylor Swift, could have easily been spotted in.
While the Grammy winner has occasionally worn longer crop tops in the past, she usually tends to sport oversized clothing, covering up her slim physique. But not this time! Lorde proved that there are some rocking abs hiding beneath those menswear-inspired looks.
A fierce body isn't all she has to be thankful for. When Lorde stepped up to the stage to accept her awards, called Tuis, she shouted-out her loyal compatriots for their support. "It's crazy to think that it's [been] a year since I was right there [in the audience], stressed out," the teen queen, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, told the audience. "You have moved mountains for me, you have changed my life."
She added, "In my house, the Tuis go in the kitchen, which may not sound that impressive. But in my house, the kitchen is the really important place to be!"
Her sweep at the New Zealand awards ceremony isn't Lorde's only big move lately! As the curator behind The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1's blockbuster soundtrack, the ethereal musician helped premiere the film in London on Nov. 10, where she donned another suit.
