Don’t get Us wrong, we love a good sheet mask, but with the debut of so many new face mask categories in 2016, we thought it wouldn’t hurt to flirt a little with the new kids on the block. We tried on magnetic, splash, rubber and powder mask options and quickly homed in on a few of our favorites from Hollywood’s top skincare brands. Needless to say, we think this dalliance is quickly turning into a full-fledged romance. Scroll down to read our reviews!

Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask (above)

WHAT IT IS: A supermoisturizing hyaluronic acid–infused modeling mask otherwise known as a DIY powder-to-gel-to-rubber-like formula that originated in Korea.

HOW TO USE: Mix the Step 1 sachet (a gel) with the Step 2 packet (an activating powder) in a bowl and apply onto skin with a spatula, included in the kit. The texture has an instant cooling sensation and feels like a gel, but solidifies into a peel-off rubbery sheet in about 15 minutes.

OUR REVIEW: Next time, we’re going to leave it on for an hour — it felt that good. Our dull, dehydrated skin instantly looked dewier and felt softer.

Dr. Lancer Younger Revealing Mask Intense

WHAT IT IS: An antiaging magnetic mask. Yup, you read that right. It’s a mineral powder cream that lifts off your face with the help of a nifty magnetic removal tool.

HOW TO USE: Apply a thin, even layer of the black paste to the face, neck and décolleté. The mask dries in 10 minutes. Hover the magnetic removal tool over the skin to lift off the mask. Repeat until all residue has been removed.

OUR REVIEW: You guys, we felt like 007 doing this. The mask left such a silky feeling on our face that we didn’t even feel the need to put moisturizer on. And those laugh lines? Totally diminished.

Boscia Tsubaki Splash Mask

WHAT IT IS: A watery mask from Japan with hydrating camellia oil.

HOW TO USE: In the shower, pat one pump directly onto a wet, cleansed face. Do not rinse or wipe off. Or, fill a basin with warm water, mix in two pumps, then draw water up to your face in a splashing motion for 15 seconds.

OUR REVIEW: OK, we had serious doubts about the efficacy of this one. But after 15 seconds of splashing, our tired skin appeared more, well, awake. In other words, you’ll look like you slept for eight hours instead of five.

Origins RitualiTea Matcha Mask Revitalizing Powder Face Mask

WHAT IT IS: Recommended for dry to oily skin, this antioxidant-rich green tea powder mask evens texture.

HOW TO USE: Blend 2 teaspoons of powder with 2 teaspoons of warm water and mix until smooth and creamy. Apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse.

OUR REVIEW: It was a little messy to put on, but hardened quickly so we didn’t drip on the couch while watching Netflix. The sweet, earthy smell made us feel like we were at a spa. Skin felt tighter, pores more refined. We recommend this one before a big night out.
