Is Michelle Obama a fan of The Good Wife?

The First Lady looked sleek and powerful in a gray Michael Kors suit during President Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday, Jan. 20 — just like Julianna Margulies' Good Wife character Alicia Florrick did when she wore the very same outfit in court!

Eagle-eyed fashion observers noticed immediately that Michelle Obama's gray, tweed jacket with its distinctive wide collar had taken center stage before, this time on the shoulders of Margulies' character in season 5 of the popular CBS drama.

The jacket in question (the Michael Kors Origami Collar Tweed Jacket) retails for $797. The Good Wife costume designer Daniel Lawson was behind the fashion choice for Florrick. "This stand-up exaggerated collar was definitely a departure from her usual silhouette," Lawson told Instyle during a discussion of Margulies' courtroom fashion. "You still got a sense of her body but this shape made her seem really strong."

Looking equally strong, Obama's sense of style clearly pleased designer Kors, who tweeted his approval as photographs of the first lady's style choice emerged.

"The state of style — pretty powerful," Kors wrote.
