Viva L.A.! Miley Cyrus looked fresh in an Elvis Presley-inspired white jumpsuit while attending W Magazine's Shooting Stars Exhibition in L.A. on Friday, Jan. 9.
The "We Can't Stop" singer's edgy outfit featured a matching cape and metallic and cream-colored belt. She finished off the look with a gold clutch and minimal makeup. (Britney Spears also rocked an Elvis-like, studded-jumpsuit on the cover of her 2002 Live from Las Vegas DVD.)
Presley, who would have turned 80 on Thursday, Jan. 8, famously wore different versions of caped suits, many with fringe and beaded detail. In March 2014, the late singer's 12-pound cape that he (almost!) wore during his Aloha from Hawaii performance in 1973 went up for auction. The full-length suit included an American eagle design and several colorful stones.
"Presley had the cape made to hide behind at the opening of the Hawaii show," Bobby Livingston, a spokesperson for RR Auctions, previously told Rolling Stone. "The show was heavily choreographed — he intended to drop the cape and reveal himself to the anxiously awaiting crowd. However, when Presley tried on the cape during rehearsals, the weight almost pulled him over backwards, and it was decided that a smaller version was needed."
Indeed, Presley's much lighter cape, that he actually wore during the show, sold for $105,250 in an auction back in 1999.
Like Cyrus, Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake also paid tribute to the King on his 80th birthday. The mom-to-be celebrated by whipping up Timberlake a batch of pancakes. "In honor of the KING's Bday, Wifey made your boy some PB and Banana Pancakes (with a little Blueberry for The Prez… Lol)!!!" he captioned an Instagram pic. "#PancakesForever."
