Katie Holmes hasn't exactly been scarce since she filed for divorce from Tom Cruise in late June — with the split expedited and finalized last month.
But the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 5, marked a big milestone for the newly single mom to 6-year-old Suri: In her first official public appearance since one of the most dramatic summers of her life, a polished, serene-looking Holmes, 33, hit the Stage at Lincoln Center in NYC to present an award to Carolina Herrera at the 2012 Design Awards. According to Just Jared, Holmes sat at a table at the fest with fashion personality Joe Zee and Smash actress Katharine McPhee.
Holmes' Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week appearances have just begun. Next week, her Holmes & Yang fashion line will show its latest line at Lincoln Center.
Later this fall, the actress will return to the Broadway stage in the play Dead Accounts. One project not on her to-do list? "She's not dating nor is she interested in dating yet," an insider tells Us. "She's just getting her life together and focusing on her daughter."
