Totally adorkable!
Zooey Deschanel went for a Cinderella-style dress at the 2012 Emmy Awards — but her nails were all Jess. The actress, who stars as the quirky Jess on Fox’s New Girl, accessorized her custom-made Reem Acra gown with elaborate painted nails.
“Televisions on my thumbnails by Tom Bachik for the Emmys!” she tweeted Sunday. The actress, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, shared a closeup shot of her adorable nails for fans.
Deschanel, 32, told Us Weekly at the Fox Emmy after-party at Soleto in Los Angeles that her nails were her top priority.
The Fox star told Us it took “two or three hours” to get ready for the Emmys red carpet. “I had nails . . . that was started first. It’s a little big of a process.” Finding the perfect dress also took a little time. “I tried on about six dresses and I liked this one,” Deschanel told Us. “I actually tried it on in a beige color and I don’t like beige, so they made it in blue for me.”
At the 2011 Emmy Awards, Deschanel rocked tiny tuxedos on her nails as well as some serious sideburns!
Unfortunately, the New Girl star did suffer a bit of a wardrobe malfunction this year before she presented the award for Writing in a Comedy Series. “Lauren, my publicist, and I had to cut my bra off because it was showing,” she confessed to reporters. “We had to just cut part of it off.”
But the Emmy-nominated actress kept her cool about the mishap. “I don’t even care really because it’s all fun. This is supposed to be for fun. If you’re not having fun, what are you doing?”
