Listen up, ladies!
While plus-size fashion blogger Jessica Kane appreciates the sweet comments about her body confidence in chic ensembles, she also has a message for you: She didn't share the snaps because she's brave, she posted them because she has self-love!
To prove her point, Kane took to Facebook and Instagram on Tuesday, April 14, where she shared a snap of herself in a one-piece Torrid bathing suit piped in pink. With it, she wrote this:
"THIS WAS NOT BRAVE. I've been told how brave I am for not having a coverup, but going with out a wrap would only take bravery if I cared what others thought of me, but I don't. I spend my time worrying about things I CAN control and this day, I was only thinking about how fab I felt and how much sun I was catching."
So what does the blogger consider truly bold and inspiring? "A family battling tragic illness, a mother trying to beat addiction, a person trying to break free of domestic violence, reaching out for help when you have already planned your suicide and feel like you can't breath one more day," Kane listed. She added, "THAT is brave. Not wearing a swimsuit at the beach. LIVE life and only worry about what really matters."
Kane finished by thanking "fellow curvy pioneer" Marcy Guevara for taking the effervescent beach pics, taken at her 35th birthday brunch on the beach in Los Angeles.
