Too hot not to chop! Reese Witherspoon cut her hair just in time for the first day of summer.
“I took four inches off. It’s a fresh pretty new look,” celeb hairstylist Cervando exclusively tells Us Weekly. “It’s great for summer because it’s long enough to be put up in a ponytail or bun, with the long layers that frame Reese’s face quite nicely.”
In a selfie posted on Cervando’s Instagram on Sunday, June 29, the Wild star, 40, showed off the slightly wavy, textured blonde ‘do with slightly dark roots and a center part. In his caption, Cervando, who’s also worked with Kirsten Dunst, Naomi Watts and Rachel McAdams, revealed that he used Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer for volume and Sachajuan Volume Powder for texture.
“I can picture her stepping out of the pool or ocean and just letting the hair air dry,” he tells Us. “The texture would be perfect!”
Witherspoon, who’s the mom of Ava, 16, Deacon, 12, and Tennessee, 3, has chopped her hair before. Last summer, Cervando gave her another cut after Lorri Goddard lightened her locks to a “baby blonde,” per Witherspoon’s Instagram. And she sacrificed her real locks for 2011’s Water for Elephants, too.
“I debated about whether or not I was going to wear a wig,” she told Collider of her pin-up-style, wavy, white-blonde bob. “Ultimately, after lots of discussion and screen-testing, I decided, ‘I’m just going to cut my hair. I’m just going to dye it white. I’m just going to do it.’”
But lately, Witherspoon has a new motivation to change things up: her daughter, Ava. During the Tiffany & Co. 2016 Blue Book Event in New York City in April, Witherspoon gushed about her taste-making teen to Us Weekly.
“She’s so much cooler than I am!” Witherspoon told Us, laughing. “She’s very cutting-edge, and she knows a lot about fashion, and she has her own sense of style, which is amazing.”
