His royal honor? Daniel Martin did Meghan Markle’s makeup for various photoshoots and press tours over the past seven years — but will he be the one making her look picture-perfect on at her royal wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19?
Sources tell Us Weekly that Martin may be the man for the job.
“I was really flattered to know that I was going to be a guest at the wedding and to be able to share this incredible moment with her,” Martin said during an interview on ABC News’ 20/20, which aired on Friday, May 19 . “I didn’t assume anything, [so] when I got the invitation, of course, I was flattered and so stoked.”
Martin told the outlet that he first met Markle, 36, at the New York City upfronts for her USA network series Suits in 2011.
“We just totally clicked and got along. So seven years later, we’re still great friends,” he explained, before revealing how he found out Markle and Harry, 33, were officially dating.
“I was in Greece and my partner saw a picture of Meghan on the newspaper. And he was like, ‘Oh, there’s your friend.’ And I look over and it was Meghan on the cover, [the] front page, of this Grecian newspaper,” Martin explained. “My heart just dropped because I was like, ‘Oh my God, what is happening?’”
After Martin sent Markle a second text, she responded with a wink face emoji.
“That’s how we communicated a lot — through text or through emojis — and she has the best memes,” Martin dished.
As for Markle’s dress, the rumors are swirling that Stella McCartney is the lucky designer dressing the former actress on her big day.
Harry and Markle will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England on Saturday.
