Nobody — and no body — is perfect. That was the gist of Sailor Brinkely Cook’s poignant December 5 Instagram following the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris, which aired on CBS that same evening. The 18-year-old daughter of Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook took to the social media platform to speed some positivity towards her nearly 50,000 followers who may have been feeling insecure after watching Kendall Jenner, Jasmine Tookes and more models strut their stuff.
“These girls are such beautiful boss hard working strong determined women. … But to all the young girls watching tonight … don’t forget that if your body doesn’t look like theirs it is totally OK,” Brinkley Cook, 18, wrote. “No body type is superior to another. Every body is different and each and every one of those bodies are beautiful and strong and important and worthy of great things. Don’t freak out if your stomach doesn’t look like theirs. Don’t hate yourself for your thighs. Embrace your body type, work hard, set goals, be healthy and constantly remind yourself that you are good enough!”
Brinkley Cook, an IMG model who shares plenty of snapshots where she’s clad in skimpy bikinis, acknowledged the importance of the televised event, noting its diversity. “VS is a celebration of women and awesome beauty,” she countered. “And comparison to anyone is never healthy! Don’t turn this fashion show into something negative. ❤️ Congrats to the VS angels on tonights show! I’ve seen how dedicated these girls are and you all really do kick ass on and off the runway. 💪🏽💕 so much respect for you guys and everyone at VS!”
While Brinkley Cook’s post gathered plenty of positive comments, it was her mom’s that stood out the most. “You just gave me a lump in my throat,” Christie, 62, wrote. “Such a compassionate and insightful post. I’m so proud of you baby.”
