Stephen Kalyn switched up his Off Campus platinum ‘do for a darker hue.
“I’m a shapeshifter when it comes to hair, apparently,” Kalyn, 28, quipped to The Hollywood Reporter at the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday, October 17. “I’m blonde, it’s brown, it’s dark, it’s black; I don’t know. I’m all over the place.”
Much like his Off Campus book counterpart, Kalyn rocked a blonde style on the Prime Video hockey series. He recently dyed his locks darker ahead of his upcoming role in The Housemaid’s Secret opposite Sydney Sweeney.
“Everyone seems to be obsessing over the hair,” he noted on Saturday, pairing his slicked-back mane with a classic tux. “I just think, you know, Sydney’s got blonde hair. I think if we both had blonde hair, I don’t think it would look too good. So, they decided to just change it [and] do something different.”
Kalyn will play Brock Cunningham in the upcoming sequel to 2025’s The Housemaid.
“She’s great, she’s so down-to-Earth,” Kalyn gushed to THR of meeting his onscreen leading lady, 29. “Paul [Feig]’s a great director, super funny, easy to work with. It’s just been … I was doing a scene just sitting there like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.’ These past six months have just been unbelievable for me. It’s been so cool.”
Before Kalyn began production on The Housemaid’s Secret, he filmed the second season of Off Campus. After the first batch of episodes teased Kalyn’s Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis’ connection with Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla), the two are set to take the lead in season 2, deviating from the book series’ order.
“Even though we do tease Dean and Allie a lot earlier than people expect, you are still left wanting a lot more,” Abdalla, 26, exclusively told Us in May. “That’s something I’m really excited about. You just want to see more. .. All the books, they build off of each other and they’re all connected. It didn’t really make sense to not include certain elements from the other books in this season.”
