We. Are. Screaming! Taylor Lautner debuted a head full of lavender locks in a Monday, September 12, Instagram.

The hunky Scream Queens actor, 24, posted an Instagram that was otherwise typical: heather gray crewneck tee, olive green sweatpants, and concentrated, smoldering selfie gaze. “Set life can be slowwwwww,” he captioned the shot.

But Lautner’s fans went wild when they spotted the former brunette’s new ’do. “My favorite color on my favorite man 💜 #done,” @peaceheartjae said. Some supporters weren’t all that thrilled, though.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” @marisolsp wrote. And there was a hearty amount of skepticism about the authenticity of his hair, with commenters citing Photoshop or temporary hair chalk as the source of the shade.

Both options are still possible, but Keke Palmer, Lautner’s Scream Queens costar, made fans reconsider in a September 12 Snapchat story. Palmer posed with Lautner on set, where his purple hair was prominent.

Lautner will play Dr. Cassidy Cascade, a physician who’s fighting an odd medical condition, in the Fox series’ second season, which returns on September 20. In August, the Twilight star told Us Weekly that he tuned into season one.

“I don't watch a lot of television, but that show was so all over the place. It was impossible not to see it every five seconds. I was a fan,” he said at Fox TCA Day. “And then in December, I reached out to Ryan Murphy … I said, I would love to find something to do with it.”

Though he can’t reveal too many details about his character, he did clue Us in on one possible scene. “John [Stamos] has been shirtless like five times,” he said. “I have been able to avoid it, but once again, it's a Ryan Murphy show. So I'm sure they'll figure something out!”
