Pillow-talking about shoes! Zayn Malik has more in common with Jennifer Lopez than one might think. They’re both gorgeous, have chart-topping hits, and now Malik has announced via Instagram on Thursday, August 11, that he too has a collaboration in the works with footwear powerhouse Giuseppe Zanotti,
“#GiuseppexZayn Coming 2017,” the former One Direction singer, 23, declared, along with a picture of himself in a checkered sweater, skinny jeans and suede Zanotti boots.
And, just like J. Lo’s own Zanotti collaboration, Malik’s will also debut in January 2017. #GiuseppexZayn includes four different boot designs. Among them, the suede shoes he wears in the above image, from GQ‘s September 2016 cover story.
Both Malik and the designer are exited about the venture. “Get ready for this guy. He’s co-designing a special men’s shoe collection with us,” the brand captioned a head shot of the “Cruel” singer via Instagram.
Malik, who has been dating Gigi Hadid since November 2016, meanwhile, had this to say to GQ of his partner-in-cobbling: “Style is not being afraid to be bold about some things, or to say what it is you have to say. I feel like Giuseppe does that with his collection — and I try to do that with my music. So it kind of works.”
Malik’s unapologetic fashion sense is part edgy, part polished designer. “It’s about being happy to look a bit scruffy,” he told GQ of his go-to outfits. “I just got into the whole rock sort of feel to clothes — big boots, skinny jeans and dark T-shirt, and rings. Just the grungy feel.”
