Celebrity makeup artist Allan Avendaño has made a name by working with Hollywood’s hottest young stars, like Gigi Hadid and Sarah Hyland. But that doesn’t mean he can’t learn from teen and twentysomething clients.

“I’ve definitely picked up tips on how I do eyebrows from Zendaya,” Avendaño tells Us Weekly. “It changes the way I do my clients’ brows too.”

Avendaño has worked with the “Something New” songstress for more than five years. Since he’s “kind of like a 16-year-old girl at heart,” he understands her constantly changing fashion and beauty choices.

“People feel like they’re growing with her,” he says. “Her fans are growing with her. She’s setting trends for people her age.”

Of course, Avendaño, who has also worked with Bella Thorne and Ashley Madekwe, doesn’t think that her style is the only thing projected to make a lasting impact. Zendaya "knows that she can really do some amazing looks with makeup, so she really loves to play," he says. "She’s gotten so talented that she’ll do her own makeup for red carpets!"

But her brow game is not to be toyed with. “She’s known as a brow queen,” Avendaño dishes.

Get a Good View

Knowing your eye shape is paramount. Are they oval? Are they almond? Spending a little time in the mirror pays off majorly. “Zendaya knows exactly where to start and how it’s gonna end,” Avendaño reveals.

It Takes Two

Go big or go home! Grab your favorite pencil and powder — Z uses both for maximum effect.

Fill 'Er Up

Notes Avendaño: “She taught me how to create the shape with a really fine-point brow pencil and draw little swipes to mimic the look of hair.”

Gloss It Over

To finish up, “she’ll take some brow wax and go over.” She makes sure that everything’s in place with a spooley, then perfects her arches using a tinted brow gel. “It’ll coat the hairs with a hint of darkness, so if makes things look fuller but not overpowering,” Avendaño says.

Emphasize Those Eyes

Avendaño’s secret weapon for drawing attention to his work are Air Optix Color contact lenses. “Now women can have tons of options with eye shadows,” the pro, who’s a spokesman for the brand, explains. “They complement everything and make you stand out more!”
