Beauty of the Day: 5 Secrets of Michelle Williams’ Style
Known as a “fashion girl” on the red carpet, Williams, who’s co-starred in Kenneth Lonergan’s acclaimed drama Manchester by the Sea (which made us cry buckets) always brings her A-game. And that's won her one of the most coveted designer contracts around — hello, Louis Vuitton! For the 2017 Golden Globes, stylist Kate Young added a cool accessory, a simple black velvet ribbon as a choker, to toughen up a white lace overlaid Louis Vuitton gown. Her glam platinum pixie was trimmed by mane man Chris McMillan just before hitting the carpet with gal pal Busy Phillipps.
At the 17th Annual AFI Awards at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills on January 6, Williams wore a creamy combo of ivory sweater and beige skirt that match her “paperwhite” locks. (The Blue Valentine star’s hair colorist, Joe Martino, coined the term.) Makeup was also kept fairly bare: Pro Angela Levin posted that she used Clarins Lip Oil for the glazed lips.
For the 2016 Critics Choice Awards, Williams stunned in a lace sheath by Louis Vuitton with a rather dramatic side-slit. We’re crushing on the shimmering navy and gunmetal smoky shadow and pearl lip color that enhanced her creamy complexion. Makeup pro Angela Levin groomed brows in a medium brown hue, which offset her sleek, side-parted pixie.
Proving she’s got serious acting chops, Williams was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Play for her work in the play Blackbird, opposite Jeff Daniels. At the Tonys, Williams showed off the golden hair hue she wore as Una in the play. Makeup pro Pati Dubroff “kept the skin super natural” with Sjal Bio-regeneratif Serum, which she says is “magic in a bottle for amping up a healthy glow.” The divine red lips were courtesy of Surratt Beauty’s Automatique Lip Crayon in Megalomane.
Before the pixie, Williams was one of the first celebrities to rock a blunt bob with bangs (she started that trend, too!) At Paris Fashion Week on October 7, 2015, she hit the Louis Vuitton show clad in the designer’s duds from head-to-toe and a glowing no makeup–makeup look.
