Everything gold for the Woman of the Year!
Lupita Nyong’o was honored at Glamour‘s 2014 Women of the Year Awards on Monday, Nov. 10. And naturally, she celebrated her banner year (that included an Oscar!) by donning gold everything—including a molten statement eye.
The Kenyan-Mexican actress, 31, complemented her embellished Chanel minidress with bronze eye makeup applied by celeb makeup artist Nick Barose. “We went with festive, shimmery, and sparkling gold on the eyes. It’s perfect for the holidays!” Barose tells Us Weekly.
The cosmetics pro, who also works with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Uzo Aduba, created Nyong’o’s beauty look using Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Kissed By Gold, a mix of brown, bronze, yellow, and pink shimmers. “The palette is one of Lupita’s favorites, but I made it more dramatic tonight by applying it wet with a dampened brush, so that it looked extra metallic,” Barose explains.
On her lips, Barose says he added one of his favorite new lip shades for fall: Lancome L’absolu Rouge in the bronzed berry shade, Jezebel.
The 12 Years a Slave actress, who covers the December 2014 issue of Glamour, was celebrated at the ceremony inside Carnegie Hall for her brave performance in the film, as well as for making it her personal mission to redefine success and beauty.
On the carpet, the stunner refused to spill any details on her involvement in the upcoming Star Wars film, but she was happy to share her best beauty secret. “Never wear heels you can’t walk in!” Nyong’o told Us.
And when does the Yale grad feel most comfortable in her incredibly toned body? Nyong’o quipped, “When I’m at home in my onesie.”
Other 2014 Women of the Year honorees included Mindy Kaling, Laverne Cox, Sarah Burton, Chelsea Clinton, and Robin Roberts.
