Add Michelle Trachtenberg to the growing list of starlets who are painting the town -- and their hair -- red. The formerly brunette Gossip Girl actress debuted a fiery new shade on Wednesday, April 10, when she arrived at Bad Robot in Hollywood for the 3rd Annual Coach Evening to Benefit the Children's Defense Fund.

"I went darker for Georgina [Sparks, my character on Gossip Girl], and I just woke up this morning and decided it was time for a change after six years," the 27-year-old star told Us Weekly of her new 'do, adding that she had come straight from the salon to the event. "I didn't realize it would take six hours! Tracey [Cunningham] is a perfectionist, and that's why I love her. I did it and then came right here."

Trachtenberg is in good company as a redhead. This Is 40 bombshell Megan Fox recently dyed her tresses a similar color for her upcoming role as April O'Neil in Michael Bay's live-action Ninja Turtles film. And she's not the only one getting in on the action.

Last week, both Rachel McAdams and Dianna Agron were spotted rocking Jessica Chastain-like locks instead of their usual blonde. And before that, Modern Family star Ariel Winter dyed her hair red, a la another Ariel -- Disney's Little Mermaid.
