Victor Cruz knows the smell of success!
The New York Giants football player, 28, is also the face of Hugo Boss’ Success Beyond the Game campaign, so it should come as no surprise that—time in the locker room excluded!—the man knows how to keep himself smelling fresh.
“Wearing the right cologne just makes me feel confident,” Cruz told Us Weekly. “I know I can walk up to anybody and A, they’re gonna compliment me on my scent, or B, they’re going to ask me what it is. Aside from, you know, personal hygiene, I like to smell good in general!”
Not that he can always help it—especially after a big game. “It doesn’t always smell too good in the locker room, especially after a game,” the wide receiver, whose salsa dancing on the field is always appreciated, said with a laugh. “I’ve got to get some more of the guys to start wearing the cologne! I think the team that smells the best feels more confident.” (For the record, Cruz’s money was on the Seahawks “smelling better” at the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.)
The men in his life might be a little stinky at times, but at least his lady is smelling fresh! Cruz said that his fiancee, Elaine Watley, always smells sexy, thanks to her love of floral perfumes. “She wears Hanae Mori. It has that flowery kind of scent,” the founder of the Victor Cruz Foundation, which encourages kids to be physically active, told Us. “But not too much flower where it’s overwhelming. It’s subtle, and she pulls it off well.”
