Bret Michaels finally put a ring on it!

After 16 on-and-off years together, the rocker, 47, proposed to Kristi Gibson on Monday night's finale of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It on VH1. Gibson, 39, is mom to their daughters Raine, 10, and Jorja, 5.

Getting down on one knee, the Poison frontman said, "Please say yes or the rejection will kill me right now." Gibson responded in kind!

Gibson and their daughters stayed by Michaels' side earlier this year when he suffered a terrifying brain hemorrhage and then a subsequent stroke.

"She's the one who put up with me all these years," Michaels tells UsMagazine.com of his bride-to-be. Immediately after Gibson accepted his proposal, they broke the happy news to their little girls, he added. "[I told them] 'I did it! We'll all be together forever! Family hug!'"

Shaylene-I agree with you 100%. I mean shouldn't they just get married by now after 16yrs. Engagements usually happen after a couple years together. It sounds like Brett still isn't sure of the comittment. How long will the engagement be, another 16 yrs before they actually get married? Sheesh.....

Let me guess the only word Brett had to describe being engaged was AWESOME! That's the only word that he has in his vocabulary AWESOME!!!!!!!

Bret is such an endearing man. I love how courageous he is. His show is so cute when he's engaging with his 2 daughters.

Kudos to Bret for finally growing up. Hopefully, he's through being a m@nwh0re. Kristi's put up w/his antics for all these years, so I can't feel sorry for her. She had the ability leave at any time. Bret doesn't need to cut his hair - he's one of the most beautiful man I've ever seen. I feel bad, though, that Kristi has gotten some obvious facial plastic surgery she most likely didn't need, and it can't be undone. I'd like to see them stay together.

Wow! He had the option, all along to be with the mother of his children but yet was BANGING all the HOE'S on "rock of love" Sheesh...WTF?

Filomena, you do realize that the "cheap cooking wine" you're referring to is actually spelled sherry and not sherri, right? I'm sure Sherri wasn't named after a wine, and it's actually a pretty commonplace name. Filomena, if you don't have a good comeback, please refrain from posting anything so idiotic and childish.

People make fun of Bret so much, but he seems like a good guy and Bret, Kristi and their girls deserve happiness. I wish them the best.

After almost on the point of death he finally saw that there are much more important things in life, his family not groupies. Good for him! God bless them till death do them part.

I feel sorry for you because you're a mean mean jelly bean and you're gonna get coal in your christmas stocking.

Oh please Sherri, shut up!!!! you're named after a cheap cooking wine! I was named after my great grandmother, so my name is a generational name, passed down from many generations. But , I can see why you have The Grinch as your profile pic, it suits you YOU MEAN LITTLE JELLY BEAN!!!!!

I feel so sorry for Filomena. She obviously has NO life (because she posts on every darn pic US puts on here), she's also obviously very bitter about life to be so hateful to everyone. She would probably benefit if she had a J-O-B to keep her busy. We'd all definitely benefit if we didn't have to see her nasty comments everytime we log on in our "spare" time. Get a life, Filomena...(I'd probably be bitter too if that was my name. LOL!!

"Now we'll all be together forever"??? What a thing to tell your kids. He should have said that to their mom a long time ago.

Good for him. Wish them the best of luck. It's been quite a year for him and his family. Wonderful ending.

Filomena, do you ever have anything nice to say? I could rag on you about your grammar, but I won't be hateful and petty like you. Congrats to the happy couple.. I agree with Elda- it's about time.. lol
