Mad Men star Christina Hendricks says she's always been proud of her curvier figure.
"Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous!" Hendricks, 35, tells the July/August issue of Health. "I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, Oh, I look like a woman. And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, 'cause I loved it!"

In February, the actress came under fire when the New York Times posted an article that slammed the star for flaunting her assets at the Golden Globe Awards. "You don't put a big girl in a big dress," the critic wrote.
"I made the grave mistake after one awards show of reading comments online about what I wore, and I was like, 'Oh my God, people are so mean!'" Hendricks reveals. "I still remember all those negative comments, despite all the wonderful positivity. That's why we're all in therapy!"

Because of the criticism, the newlywed admits she's surprised to learn she's often cited as one of the most desirable bodies in Hollywood.
"Really? They don’t say Jessica Alba? 'Cause that's what I say!" she laughs. "It's such a compliment, because of all those times I had agents who were like, "You have to lose some weight," and all of a sudden, people are celebrating it."

But the buxom redhead -- who admits she could "sit down with a bag of chips and French onion dip and go to town" -- also makes an effort to stay healthy by varying her gym routine.

"I get kind of bored on the treadmill, but I do it. And I do a little bit of weight training," she says. "I'm really into the BOSU ball. You have to balance on it, and I do weights and squats on it. I'm pretty good at it -- I feel sort of like a Karate Kid!"

Tell Us What You Think
47"whiteMwwwwiiiiiitttAsianF Says:White females think fat on a white female.... is the BOMB BABY!" You are deluded! I don't know any white women that think fat on ANY female is the bomb of anything. That is an uneducated comment. Maybe you should try and talk to a couple white women and actually find out what they think looks good and what doesn't.
anony, it is not a pushup bra. she has implants. as i said, look at any woman large or small who does not have implants: they do not have that under-the-skin outline of the top half of the implant even with the strongest pushup bra. men are fooled so easily. any time you see that outline of the implant under the skin, that is your tipoff the woman has implants. start noticing. you will see it is true. in christina's case, she is 35 years old and probably got the implants because she was sagging a bit and felt this mattered because of how she makes a living.
@nord, it could just be a good push-up bra anyway i think this woman is gorgeous as hell, not just for her great bod but also for her gorgeous face
Tony, the implants are obvious because of the telltale outline under the skin of the upper half of the implant. Working in that field, I know. Look at a woman without implants. There is no upper outline of the contour of an implant whether the woman is large or small.
she rocks it! Glad she is not a skinny rail, she is real and that is sexy. I have a body similar to hendricks and I love that she is not trying to be something other than who she is. It is great to hear someone say I am proud of my curves and they have real curves. Not these Hollywood clones who say it and you need a microscope to see them. Oh and I love her dress on the mag cover.
Michael R Bliss - don't comment on how much women's bodies gross you out. Gayford! Go comment on how much you love Zack Efron.
@whiteMwwwwiiiiiitttAsianF - You are a moron.
she is beautiful. great body. nice to see someone with curves for a change.
Those breasts should be declared national treasures. She could feed a leper colony with those.
All I would say to Nord is that those breasts are real and they're spectacular! Jealous much!
Jack and Jill...have you seen her naked? I haven't either and don't want to... she's not even a MILF....peuuuuuuuuu she needs a gig in a nursing home serving food
yuck...omg...gained weight AND hair on her shoulders too....blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
if she is so proud of her body, why does she have those ridiculously obvious breast implants?

What a gorgeous body!
I showed my BF this pic and his jaw dropped open and I had to wipe the drool from his chin. We both think she's hot and I agree that most people saying she's fat are probably jealous and fat themselves. She is by no stretch of the imagination 'fat' and the only thing big is her chest. She doesn't have 'rolls of fat' - she has a fantastic figure! And most men would want her over some skeletor!
Christina! Thank you for putting that do uche whiteMwiitasianF in his frickin place!!! He is all over this board spewing his nonense and it's really sad. You would think "he" would be embarrassed, but obviously his IQ is not high enough for him to feel embarrassment. I feel sorry for him.
More low self esteem women that us weekly keeps promting why don't you guys talk about healthy eating and stop feeding into women with low self esteem it's upsetting.
Sorry, I just need to set the record straight. whiteMwwwwiiiiiitttAsianF talks about lists of overweight countries and Japan being near the bottom. Why is that, you ask? Because most of the young women in Japan are UNDERWEIGHT. I live here, I see so many women who are literally just skin and bones. While it is unhealthy to be obese, it is also unhealthy to be underweight. Also, how healthy is it for Japanese doctors to tell already-skinny women that they should LOSE weight (not maintain their current weight) while pregnant? As a result, many babies are born underweight and that's not healthy. I'm not White and I'm not fat. I have many Japanese friends and not all the females are ridiculously skinny. But how bad is it when a skinny, though healthy, Japanese girl with a nice shape (not "curvy", but real boobs and a cute waist) HATES her body because she thinks she's fat. The diets in Japan are more extreme than any plan I've seen in the US. And as for the record of oldest population, that's down in Okinawa, which, technically, was its own empire until 1868. Even now the Ryukyuan (Old Okinawa) culture and diet are considered only pseudo-Japanese within Japan. Mainland Japanese also live long, too, but with the steady increase of Western influence over the last few decades, the Japanese are now eating just as much McDonald's and drinking just as much Coke and filling their pantries with just as much processed, sodium- and chemical-filled food products as any person from the States. I see so many high school students eating fast food every day or buying horrible processed food from the convenience store. Their crops are sprayed with the same nasty chemicals and finding organic food, even in a HUGE city like I live in, is a mission in itself. With that said, the goal of a healthy lifestyle is not to be skinny or fat, it's to be fit. She exercises and doesn't go crazy with what she eats, but she also doesn't seem to count every calorie and stress about maintaining some crazy, unhealthy diet. She doesn't have rolls of fat on her body, she doesn't have a double-chin or some kind of obsessive eating disorder. Christina Hendricks beautiful because she looks like she maintains a healthy lifestyle. Skinny doesn't equal healthy and healthy doesn't equal skinny. And being racist doesn't change that argument.
So glad to hear that she wants to look like a "real" woman and not some skin and bones. She is a very beautiful woman and I just wish other actresses would take a cue from her and put on a little weight...maybe then a size 10 wouldn't be considered plus size
