Keeps turning up! A sizzling Christina Milian gave a juicy new interview to Latina in its May 2015 cover story about her relationship with Lil Wayne and more.

“The deal is he’s my man…crush,” the Love Don’t Cost a Thing actress, 33, said of the rapper (whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) “I think he’s awesome. He and I have a very special relationship and I think I’ve always been very careful with it publicly.”

Us Weekly exclusively revealed last July that Milian was dating Weezy after she broke off her engagement to Rap-a-Lot Records CEO Jas Prince. Several months later, Milian planned a surprise Louisiana-themed birthday party for her beau. The star told Latina that her dynamic with Weezy is different, and she plans to protect their relationship.

“When you have something special, it’s like everybody picks apart words,” she mused. “They’ll pick apart a moment in a picture and take something that’s special and trash it.”

The singer told the mag that she’s smarter than that. “I’m not afraid to blame myself for any of my own faults or just to analyze things in a different way, but I don’t overanalyze either,” the mom to 5-year-old Violet shared. (Milian shares her daughter with her ex-husband The-Dream, whom she divorced in 2011.) “I still gotta live life, but being able to look at myself and recognize my own faults makes me the more mature Christina that I am today.”

That means tuning out the critics. “I’m just in a new place,” Milian reflected. “I’m a grown woman. The haters are definitely wrong if they think I care. I can’t figure you people out. I just want to do me.”

These days, Milian has been focusing on instilling a positive body image in her baby girl. “I want Violet to be proud of every little thing that is her—her hair, her body,” the “Dip It Low” singer explained. “We’re all different and from early on I’ve always said she has a very confident personality and I want her to maintain that. I don’t want her to be stuck thinking about the scale or thinking, ‘I gotta have straight hair’ and all of this.”

Milian, personally, said she’s struggled with body image in the past. “No [eating] disorders,” the actress said of herself, personally, “although I considered it [Laughs]. I was like maybe if I chew and spit this could work.”

Along with focusing on Violet, Milian has also been busy promoting her E! reality show, which debuted this past January. Christina Milian Turned Up features her sisters Danielle and Elizabeth, and the actress said she’s heard frequent comparisons to the Kardashians.

“It’s true, there’s a certain similarity that kind of happens with all of us, except I think the order of which we were born,” Milian said of her fellow E! stars. “But if I’m Kim, then I say Danielle is Kourtney and Lizzy’s Khloe.”

The May 2015 issue of Latina hits newsstands on Apr. 7.
