Don't hate her because she's beautiful. Rather, people attack Gisele Bundchen, 30, for the controversial things she says.

The supermodel's latest gaffe: claiming she doesn't use sun tan lotions because all of the chemicals they contain.

"I cannot put this poison on my skin," Bundchen -- who has appeared in ad campaigns for Nivea Sun products -- said at the launch of her own organic skin care range, according to the UK's Daily Mail. "I do not use anything synthetic."

Instead, the leggy beauty says she protects herself from sun damage by only exposing herself to rays before 8 A.M.

However, cancer experts have been quick to question Bundchen's expertise on the matter.

"Sunscreen prevents damage to the skin and is of fundamental importance for the prevention of cancer," said Dolival Loao, head of dermatology at Brazil's National Cancer Institute. "This is not any poison, when a public person makes a statement like this, it creates confusion."

Of course, this isn't the first time Bundchen has stuck her foot in her mouth.

Three months after giving birth to son Benjamin in December 2009 (with hubby Tom Brady) she explained how she regained her pre-baby figure by eating mindfully throughout her pregnancy.

"I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals," she told Vogue.

Then she angered more mothers by saying mandatory breastfeeding should be a "worldwide law."

"It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard," Bethenny Frankel, who had daughter Bryn six months after Bundchen gave birth, snapped to UsMagazine.com. "Breastfeeding is one of the most rewarding experiences, but it isn't for everyone."

It's not a hypocrite, she's giving you an option to buy her brand. There's many out there. She didn't like her options so she made her own. One smart cookie! And if you did any research you'd find out that she was right.. but instead you mock with anger and refuse to hear the truth!

She is a hypocrite. According to the article, she is launching her own product line after shilling for Nivea. "Bundchen -- who has appeared in ad campaigns for Nivea Sun products -- said at the launch of her own organic skin care range."

I am NOT a fan of Gisele's at all...her comments on breastfeeding lit me up a year ago, and when I read this I was ready to go again. Sadly, even though her delivery sucks and her comments were probably misconstrued, she is right in theory. Many manufacturers of sunscreens simply don't do what they advertise. Everyone should research the ingredients in sunblock and find one that is free of oxybenzone and Vitamin A. ewg.org/2010sunscreen/best-beach-sport-sunscreens/ I still don't like her, but at least it's bringing out awareness that not all sunscreens/sunblocks are created equal.

Fvck this manly woman. Breastfeeding mandatory? Kiss my formula feeding ass Gazelle. You're incredibly stupid. Hey- you can go get skin cancer, the rest of us will have common sense and put on sunscreen.

*as a cotton ball! (I meant)

  • February 05, 2011 - 4:56pm Amy Robinson

I do think she is pretty in an interesting sort of way & I do believe her comments were misconstrued.HOWEVER..I also do believe she is about as sharp as cotton ball!

One can simply look at her and see she doesn't use it. She's neither beautiful nor young looking. At 30, she looks more like a worn-out 48-year-old. I'll keep staying out of the sun; people think I look years younger than I am.

The only way she makes news anymore is by running her big stupid mouth. She gives models a bad name. What a total MORON!!! HAHAHA DITTO REWIND

People concentrating on what a model says as fact or even as something to believe is the dumb part. Its not like they made her fill out all of her opinions on life before she was thrown into public view. Stop taking what these stars say so seriously. Use your own wits and knowledge and go from there. She may not be right and these may be silly things, but they are her opinions and she is allowed to have them, no matter how silly. Also, I think she means laying out in the sun catching rays, not just going out in public. Use your heads.

People should do their homework first, before criticising Giselle.Sunscreens contain ingredients that have toxic effects, like hormone disrupters, penetration enhancers and allergens. Sunblocks are better for your health.

"Don't hate her because she's beautiful"....umm, yeah, I don't. She's not beautiful and looks like a man. What's there to hate except the stupid statements that makes and then claims the public "misconstrues" all the time. (I'm jealous of the money she makes, though).

  • February 04, 2011 - 5:06pm Salem Prince

Frankly, I have a hard time believing in all her swimsuit modeling experience that she only takes pics before 8:00 a.m....I'm not saying she and the photography crew don't TRY to get most of it done in the morning before the hottest part of the day, but still. Bottom line she is a dolt. I am sure there are chemicals but to call them "poison" is a little extremist. And Morgan, define "staying out of the sun". Pretty damm difficult thing to do. Why not just say avoid "sunbathing"...Avoiding basting yourself by laying out in the sun IS avoidable...avoiding sun in its entirety, impossible.

  • February 04, 2011 - 5:02pm Ellie Swanson

She's absolutely right - many of the chemicals found in most of the widely available sunscreens are known carcinogens. Some cause hormone disruption, others have been found to increase chances of tumor creation and growth. It's not just hearsay. The Environmental Working Group has a huge database of hundreds of cosmetics products and you can learn for yourself about the toxins that we apply to ourselves everyday. Look them up - ewg.org But of course, her comments were taken out of context and presented in such a Glenn Beck way that gets average Americans all riled up. So far she hasn't said anything that is not based on scientific truths. You might not like to hear it but it doesn't mean it's not true.

  • February 04, 2011 - 4:42pm Marti Romanov

Sunscreen is full of chemicals, but the industry doesn't want you to know it...it's profit oriented brainwashing.

  • February 04, 2011 - 4:41pm Filomena Araujo

Oh please, she's like I CAN'T Put this on my skin because it's so harmful, it makes much more sense to get skin cancer by NOT wearing sunscreen, and didn't she smoke cigarettes? What kind of oxymoron is that, OH I CAN'T Put this lotion on but I can inhale cancer causing tobacco products. This chick needs to shut her pie hole, because her statements not only come across as ludicrous and ridiculous, but extremely hypocritical as well. She can't even speak Decent English for god's sake, so she really should be wise to shut her mouth and stick to what she knows best, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!

  • February 04, 2011 - 4:39pm Filomena Araujo

That saying "Women should be seen and not heard" couldn't be more accurate, and in her case "She shouldn't be seen, or heard"!

  • February 04, 2011 - 4:34pm Khanh Bui

She's an idiot, just like her husband. LOL breast feeding should be a law, and sun tan lotions contain harmful chemical ... WOW
