Lena Dunham Posts Sports Bra Selfie, Talks Importance of Exercise For Helping With Anxiety

Lena Dunham has no problem baring her body on Girls, and now the outspoken actress and writer is lending her voice to an important cause: mental health. The 28-year-old posted a workout selfie on Saturday, April 11 via Instagram, wearing green printed spandex pants and a yellow sports bra.

"Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls Season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible," she captioned the shot looking toned and fit. "To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it's mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I'm glad I did."

Dunham, who looked noticeably slimmer in the new shot, has been working out with celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, who has worked with top stars like Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow. The positive body image advocate went on to confirm that her fitness kick was all about the benefits for her mental health.

"It ain't about the ass, it's about the brain," she wrote. "Thank you @tracyandersonmethod for showing me the light (and @bandierfit is where I bought my Florida mom inspired workout look.) #notsponsored #stillmedicated."
