Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' tot will turn five next month, but when she stepped out with mom for a cupcake run in Vancouver over the weekend, she was still sucking on a pacifier.

It seems Suri is straddling a line between babe and little lady. Last year Cruise and Holmes came under fire for letting Suri wear heels and lipstick.

That is that baby girl's "safety" item, leave her alone. If she were holding a teddy bear or a baby blanket it would not even be news.

BREASTFEED your children instead of letting them suck on artificial things. Anthropologically speaking when comparing primates, humans should be nursing their children between two and seven years.

This little girl is too old to be walking around with a pacifer. Her parents need to spend more time with the little girl and find out why she feels she needs to have it. Try trading it with something that is more age appropriate.

This may not even be a real pacifier. The rubber part could be candy. As kids (and even in our teens), we used to buy candy pacifiers from our local candy shop. We looked like idiots but they were yummy.

This is such a small issue in the big scheme of things. I'm glad no one nitpicks my parenting on this scale.

She is way too old for a pacifier..any child over the age of one is....They have to learn to deal with stress just like everyone...you are allowing her to have a crutch. It's best to deal with a little crying for a few days and then she will adjust just fine. YOu have to tell children no sometimes...this is whats wrong with are youth today....we give then anything they want!

since everyone has weighed in on it. What about Bella&Connor? They are raised just a Suri is and you dont see them with Binky's and they are teens now. And most people know that Tom's children are home schooled so there's no emmbarrassment there. We all know that Scientology have some "odd" practices, until one of Tom's children get convicted of a crime, i wouldnt critize his parenting at all. I wouldnt want it done to me, so let us focus on our troops coming home soon and not this!

my daughter is 7 going to be 8 this year and sucks her thumb when she isnt feeling well or when she is really over tired. but doesnt do it at school or outside the house except when she isnt feeling well or sick. the binky is more of a keep her quiet thing to me. i bet her parents gave it to her to make her stay quiet. i dont think it is right but as long as she doesnt take it to school with her maybe she will lose it

i bet she has on a diaper or pull up too here. i've always thought she was behind. does anyone remember the time she was out with her bodyguard on the streets? the kid was shaking all over. i've never seen anyone walk down the aisle to be married sucking on a paci so she will give it up. she just seems like a slow developer to me.

WHY DON'T THEY LEAVE THIS POOR KID ALONE? SHE NEVER DID ANYTHING TO ANYBODY EXCEPT YOU HAVE SOME MEDIA DRIVEN HATRED OF HER PARENTS. IF SHE SUCKED HER THUMB SHE WOULD BE PICKED ON FOR THAT. LEAVE THE KID ALONE AND PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF IN YOUR FACE EVERY TIME YOU WENT OUT ON THE STREET?

One more comment....My son and my daughter were allowed to have their pacifiers until they chose to throw them away at 3 years. Both are now in their 30s and have beautiful straight teeth (no braces involved). They both used NUK pacifiers.....flat silicone at the lips and teeth area with a lil bulge for tongue and roof of mouth. Sometimes I wonder if I should credit the NUK for keeping their teeth straight! Today, they are hard working, loving individuals with fams of their own. Now their lil ones have same type of NUKs to use as comfys.

Adults are so quick to criticize lil kids for sometimes needing to comfort themselves.....either by sucking on their lil binkies or their bottles. However, adults are allowed to use a "comfy" throughout adulthood if they choose.....they puff on cigarettes, chew on chewing gum, suck on candy, some drink coffee all day, women have to carry their purses at all times, have to have on makeup, men and women love to have that cocktail, some use "comfort food"......All is used in some way or another as a form of comfort. And we get to do it all day, every day! But little kiddies......as soon as they become toddlers, their "comfy" is usually taken away from them.....all in the name of "growing up". Then, once we are grown, we adopt our own particular "comfys" to help us get through life. Hmmmmmmmm

I'm just surprised she is walking by herself in this picture. Get rid of the Paci or BUCK.

  • March 08, 2011 - 10:23pm El Phillips

Soooo....you people think it's 'effed-up for a 5 year old kid who's been forced into celebrity to have a pacifier, but there's nothing creepy about a bunch of adults obsessing over what someone else's kids is sticking in her mouth? :/

Charlie Sheen had one till he was 7 and look how well he turned out.

Get her to quit at least two days before she starts dating or there will be another set of problems that Elron can not solve.
