Sheryl Crow has adopted again.

"I have some exciting news to share with you guys," she announced on her official Web site Friday. "Wyatt has a new little brother!"

Her new son, Levi James, "was born April 30," she added.

In 2007, the 48-year-old singer, who overcame a battle with breast cancer, adopted son Wyatt, who is now 3.

She had no qualms about being a single mother.

“For my whole life, I had a pretty clear picture of what my life was supposed to be. I was supposed to have a big career but at the same time a husband, the house and the kids. That’s what I knew. That’s what a successful life consisted of," she told Parade in 2008.

"A family doesn’t always look like girl meets boy, they fall in love, they get married, they have a kid,” Crow went on. “I said, ‘OK, I’m going to let go of what I think things are supposed to look like, because I can’t control anything. When I try to control things, that’s when I keep things from happening.’”

Her son has inspired her work.

"Two days before Wyatt came, I finished a Stop Global Warming college tour,” she told Parade. “When a baby comes into your life, the environment becomes so personal. Having him around, this little innocent spirit, really made me fearless about writing what I wanted to write and about not being afraid of who I was going to piss off. It created a lot of urgency about that.”

Now here's a woman in the entertainment industry who I both love and admire. She's someone who I really look up to...not just because of her awesome talent but also because of her incredible spirit. She seems to know and value the important things in life and I respect her greatly for that.

  • June 06, 2010 - 7:56am karima

so cute! congrats, even though i believe that all kids should have a father figure in their lives, i've always noticed that wyatt was always happy and smiling around her, and thats all that matters. she's happy and her kids are happy

    Congrats!

Wow! Someone adopts a baby & gives it a loving home. Actually, 2 babies. And some of you fools find fault with that? It's not like she stole the kid(s). They needed homes & were up for adoption. Why shouldn't she give them a home? I don't believe she got these kids b/c she has money. So what? There are millions of kids out there that need homes and some will be adopted by persons well-off and some will be adopted by folks working regular old jobs. Who cares? The kids get homes & families and that's what adoption is all about. At least she's raising her kids - not like Kate G. paying nannies to do the job for her.

  • June 05, 2010 - 3:03am The Honest Truth

Wyatt is a cutey! Levi will hopefully be just as cute.

Wow Wyatt looks just like Lance Armstrong! At least Sheryl has the means and financial stability to bring these children into her home and not depend on monthly welfare checks like some of you haters who expect everyone else too pay your way!!

  • June 04, 2010 - 8:54pm Marcus

Speedy Did you not see the part where her son in very smart and happy. That was because of her. Sara you are doing a great job. keep up the work Speedy I am single father with four kids and they are also very happy andsmart. They can tell you what country they were born in where the country is located and which other countries border it

  • June 04, 2010 - 8:18pm Speedy

Sara, I wanna be there when your son hits his first therapy session - guys need a father influence, that way they know they don't have to approach every situation worrying about feelings. I'm sure glad you don't tell your son how you diminish his gender when discussing the man YOU CHOSE to make him with.

Vanessa, why are you hung up on what a child looks like? As long as children get a loving home Anon- She got a baby because she got picked by a birth mother? Sheryl Crow has a hot career. Macy- You adopt a kid from where you are happy with. If you feel your child is India or Liberia then adopt from there. My four kids come from different countries and that is what I wanted.

  • June 04, 2010 - 6:23pm Vanessa

How come noone feels the need to adopt caucasian babies with brown hair/brown eyes. It's always either black, hispanic, asian, or blonde hair blue eyes. Sad.

  • June 04, 2010 - 6:00pm anon

No 'lovely', she got the baby because she has money. There are many a couple who would have given that child a loving home if given the opportunity. Sheryl Crow is insignificant. Adoption is amazing, but, there a lot of more important situations going on in the world.

  • June 04, 2010 - 5:46pm anon

No, 'lovely', she got the baby because she has money. There are many a couple who would have given that baby a loving home without the benefit of having money. I never said adoption wasn't amazing. Sheryl Crow is insignificant and you 'lovely', learn how to capitalize your words.

  • June 04, 2010 - 5:11pm Joanne

The garbage posted about this news is why people hesitate to adopt. How could anyone not be happy to hear that another lucky little child has been adopted into a loving home? You want people to adopt locally - make it easier. Don't post ignorantly when you don't know the facts about local adoptions and who said this little guy wasn't adopted locally? STOP the stigma surrounding adoption raised by ignorance. Congratulate and celebrate with those brave and loving enough to choose this route to share their love. Adoption is never easy. Be supportive.

  • June 04, 2010 - 4:55pm lovely

no anon she gets a baby because the baby needs a home and this woman is willing to provide that for him. a lot of people don't want to adopt, they would rather have their "own". Adopting is amazing. who cares if she was has, was or never been! i would like to hear anyone's story of adoption.

  • June 04, 2010 - 4:44pm Gwen

Actually she's from Missouri not Texas. Check your facts!
