Another Today show baby! Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer announced on Friday, June 10, that she’s pregnant with her first child. The weather correspondent is expecting with her husband, NBC Nightly News cameraman Brian Fichera, this December.
Dreyer, 34, was playing the "Friday Fishbowl” game, where the cohosts pick questions out of a fishbowl to answer, and she picked a slip of paper that said, “Are you pregnant?”
“Yes, I am!” she replied, as everyone cheered and clapped.
The meteorologist even surprised her coanchors by divulging the sex on-air. She popped a balloon filled with blue confetti to reveal she’s having a boy. Then her costars surprised her by bringing out a basket filled with baby clothes.
"As a first-time mom-to-be, I'll admit I don't know a thing,” Dreyer wrote in a blog post on Today.com. "My husband has been excited since the day we got the positive pregnancy test.”
"I just can't believe I'm this lucky. I am so grateful and thank God every night and pray for him to keep his angels around our little one so that he's safe and protected,” she continued. "I've asked people to try to explain to me why having a baby changes your life in a way you could never imagine. No one can put it into words, but when I saw this little guy and watched him dance around and touch his hand to his face, I fell in love instantly. A love I, too, can't put into words.”
She also said she’s happy to have Today coanchor Savannah Guthrie to answer all her pregnancy questions. "I hope Savannah doesn't mind me peppering her with a million questions," she wrote. "Since we’re due at practically the same time and she's already a trained professional, she's my perfect resource!"
Earlier this week, Guthrie announced she’s pregnant with her second child and due in December too. “I’ve been craving a chocolate milk shake, and I thought maybe you were too,” Guthrie told Dreyer on Friday before having the delicious treats brought out for everyone. “I’ll race you to the labor and delivery room,” she joked.
