UPDATE: TMZ reports that Johnson is in stable condition at Cedars-Sinai. However, doctors were apparently unable to reattach his severed penis.
Andre Johnson, a rapper reportedly associated with the hip-hop group Northstar, mutilated himself by cutting off his penis before jumping from an L.A. apartment building on Wednesday, April 16, police confirmed to multiple outlets.
Johnson jumped from the second level of a building in North Hollywood, Los Angeles Police Sgt. William Mann told CNN. He survived but was seriously injured.
Mann said the musician was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment. Additional details about what triggered the incident were not immediately available.
Multiple reports state that Johnson goes by the name Christ Bearer and is a member of the group Northstar, which CNN says was part of the Wu-Tang Clan family.
