Anna Duggar is finding support through the power of prayer. The former 19 Kids and Counting star took to the Duggar family blog on Saturday, January 23, with some reflective words — and revealed that she recently visited her troubled husband, Josh,in rehab.
“Many have asked how I am doing. So many have asked that it’s actually humbling and touching,” Anna, 27, wrote. “2015 was the most difficult year of my life. Yet, amazingly I’ve found that in my own life crisis God has drawn near to me ("He’s near to the brokenhearted” Psalms 34:18) and my faith has been more precious to me than ever before.”
The mother of four added that her recent trip to visit Josh was “an important step on a long difficult road.”
Last August, Josh, also 27, confessed to cheating on Anna and being addicted to pornography after hackers revealed that he had an account on the Ashley Madison cheating website. He subsequently checked into a long-term treatment center.
In a confessional for the first part of TLC special Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which aired in December, Anna called her husband's actions “a betrayal.”
“It was definitely a hard thing, and I think it is such a betrayal for a spouse to go through what we’re walking through — and … it was hard,” she said. “It was hard to realize that it was such a public thing, so not only was it a betrayal against me, but it was also a betrayal for those who call themselves Christian, because here we were as a Christian couple and everyone was able to see us get married and to vow before God to be loyal to each other. And [then] that loyalty was broken.”
Though Anna has otherwise stayed out of the spotlight in recent months, other members of the reality family have commended Anna for her courage.
“Anna is amazing,” Jinger Duggar said during the special. “She displays to each one of us what it means to have unconditional love, and she’s walking through this better than anyone of us could have ever imagined.”
Josh and Anna share four young children together — Mackynzie, 6, Michael, 4, Marcus, 2 and Meredith, 5 months.
