Anna Duggar Breaks Silence About Josh Duggar’s Cheating Scandal: “I Was Just Like . . . This Can’t Be True”

Speaking out and moving forward. After two major scandals rocked Josh Duggar this past year, his wife, Anna Duggar, is ready to move on and is finally addressing his cheating confession from this past August.

Anna, 27, who shares four young kids with her husband, will fully address Josh’s infidelity admission on the family’s three-part TLC special, Jill & Jessa: Counting On. Good Morning America premiered on Wednesday, Dec. 9, the first exclusive clip of Anna discussing her husband’s betrayal and her reaction to the entire incident.

“I was just like, ‘I’m gonna wake up and this is going to be okay,'” Anna said in the confessional. “‘And this really. This can’t be true.'”

On Aug. 18, hackers released the information of millions of users on infidelity website Ashley Madison, and among the emails released was data linked to Josh, 27. Two days later, Josh released a statement in which he confessed to cheating.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife,” he wrote at the time. “I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.”

He subsequently checked into a faith-based rehab facility called the Reformers Unanimous center located in Rockford, Ill. Meanwhile, his wife was subject to criticism for remaining with her husband even after his cheating confession.

Equally devastated about Josh’s multiple scandals were his family members and sisters Jill and Jessa, who were molested by their brother back when he was a teen. After the shocking news broke this past May, the girls — both recently wed new moms  defended their sibling in a tell-all interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.

In her special, an emotional Jill said that Josh should never have allowed them to do that interview knowing full well that he was being unfaithful to Anna. “It wasn’t right for him to let us speak our words without having full knowledge of what he was hiding,” Derick Dillard‘s wife said.

Part I of Jill & Jessa: Counting On airs Sunday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
