’Tis the season for some serious celebration! As reported yesterday, Anne Hathaway and her husband, producer Adam Shulman, are expecting their first child together, multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly.
Take a look back with Us at the happy couple’s road to romance — and baby!
2008: Hathaway, 32, and Shulman, 34, began dating following the Les Miserables actress’ split from her longterm boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri (the real estate developer pled guilty in October of that year of defrauding investors of millions of dollars.) Hathaway and Shulman initially met through a mutual friend at the 2008 Palm Springs Film Festival.
November 2011: Hathaway and her new man get engaged after three years of dating; the Dark Knight Rises star opened up to Harper’s Bazaar about their relationship.
“So far, it’s worked out great,” she told the magazine at the time, calling Shulman “mellow” compared to her exes. “Mellow doesn’t always make for good story, but it makes for a good life.”
September 2012: The happy couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Big Sur, Calif., after more than four years together. Hathaway stunned in a Valentino Garavani-designed gown.
November 2012: Hathaway revealed during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she and Shulman were already thinking about starting a family together. When asked about how fame has changed her life, Hathaway spoke out about shielding her future children from the press.
“I’m thinking about [the paparazzi] because I really want to have a baby, and my husband and I are like, ‘Where are we gonna live?’”
December 2012: In an interview with the UK’s Telegraph, Hathaway revealed that she’s “wanted to be a mom” since she was 16.
“I’m 30 and I want to have a family of a certain size,” she added. “Look, I’ll start with one healthy kid but I’d like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know? I’d like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special. I’ve had one goal in mind for the past 12 years, which is: get a movie, get a movie, get a movie. Now I might have to say: get a baby, get a baby, get a baby.”
January 2013: The pair purchase a beautiful loft together in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood for $4.1 million but sell the unit in October 2014.
February 2013: Hathaway wins the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables, and thanks Shulman in a touching moment during her acceptance speech.
"By far the greatest moment of my life was the one when you walked into it," she said. "I love you so much."
July 2014: The couple adopted a new puppy, Kenobi, to join their chocolate Labrador Esmeralda as a baby step toward parenthood.
April 2015: Despite reports to the contrary, Hathaway and Shulman were not looking to adopt a baby, a rep for the star confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
November 2015: In photos posted on E! Online, Hathaway stepped out with what looked like a tiny baby bump, sparking rumors that the Oscar winner was with child. Us Weekly confirmed the happy baby news through multiple sources.
