Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Governor of California, and his wife, Maria Shriver, have separated after 25 years of marriage.

"We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public."

The Terminator actor and Shriver met in 1977 at a tennis tournament and married in 1986.
Schwarzenegger, 63, recently announced he was returning to show-business and has signed up for three new films.

24She left him not the other way around. He is an arrogant jerk. Couldn't stand him in most movies and he was a horrible governor. She was kind enough to stay with him till he was done with his political foray.

Can't stand either one. He did more for CA then his predecessor they booted out, she thinks she is above the law, and NEVER shuts up. Very liberal, and knows very well she is a Kennedy.
Don't know what she ever saw in this dumb-as-a-rock bodybuilder to begin with. Watch snippets of "Pumping Iron" on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. He's made jokes at her expense many times in public and groped other women; he's admitted it. Maybe she'll be better off on her own.
Truly sad story. At a time when their lives should be jelling and precious lost time made up because of his previous commitments, valuable time with the children, traveling and speaking engagements......and the list goes on. I am very sorry to hear of their breakup, hopefully time will create opportunity for healing.
@Diane - I agree. People do not know or understand their relationship. So its not fair for them to be so quick to judge. At least they have the decency to work together for the children's sake. I respect them for that.
Change is hard on relationships. I think this was a longtime in coming it didn't just happen overnight. I wish nothing but the best for the both of them and their children.
I would venture to say part of this is due to living apart. Long distance relationships do not work. People start living like they were single making it very difficult to merge again as a single unit. I don't know the extent of their problems but hope they can solve their problems and become a family unit again.

Maria is a saint. I love her. I am not surprised about Arnold. Wonder when we'll see the Pop Tart he left her for?
Its about damn time. Arnold is known for his extamarital affairs. He has had several relations with women other than his own wife. I'm mostly shocked that it took Maria this long to realize that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I have NO respect for Arnold. KARMA is a well you know what....and he is finally getting a little taste of it.
