"Doing my Amanda bynes look this afternoon," the Pretty Little Liars actress, 23, wrote to her 2.4 million followers. In the photo, the blonde beauty pouted her lips for the camera, pulled at one side of her hair, and closed one eye – otherwise nailing the pose. In just one day, the portrayal already has over 22,000 likes.
But Benson has since taken down the photo. "To clear up the whole Instagram thing, I had no idea what her situation was. Truly sorry if I offended anyone," she tweeted Thursday, July 25.
Indeed, the joke on Bynes, 27, isn't the first celebrity jab. Back in June 2012, Anderson Cooper, 46, made fun of the troubled star when she tweeted directly at President Barack Obama, 50, for assistance after getting arrested in California for allegedly driving intoxicated. "Hey Barack Obama . . . I don't drink," she wrote. "Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end." The journalist then responded on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, "If you don't know who she is, join the club. She apparently used to be on Nickelodeon, then was in the movie Hairspray and some other movies that you've probably never heard of."
In addition, both Bynes and John Legend’s fiancee Chrissy Teigen exchanged some harsh words in May 2013. "The fact that Amanda Bynes has any 'support' to retweet is really unsettling. Support people with mental illness, yes. But don't condone/enable scary and poor behavior," the model, 27, wrote via her Twitter account. "Chrissy Teigen, you're not a pretty model compared to me," Bynes shot back. "I signed to Ford models at age 13. I don't looks up to you beauty wise. I'm far prettier than you!"
Though the Hairspray actress has had her share of making fun of "ugly" people on Twitter, this is just another headline surrounding the troubled star. Bynes was hospitalized on Monday, July 22, after creating a small fire in the driveway of a house in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, Calif.
"I have no idea what she was doing," homeowner Bonnie Braaten told Us. "I don't even think she has an idea what she was doing."
