The gushing former President admitted he's enjoying seeing his granddaughter Charlotte Clinton-Mezvinsky change and develop as much as he enjoyed watching Chelsea Clinton when she was a baby.

"It's amazing," Clinton told DeGeneres "Hillary and I only have one child and she's quite wonderful, but it's been a long time since she's been that age. So the biggest hoot for me, my granddaughter turned six weeks on Friday, is watching them wake up to the world."

"Their vision starts to get out, and she almost doesn't have time to laugh, she never cries, she just soaks things up. I think if my mind worked like that it would be so great," he joked.

Clinton, who proudly shared a photo via Instagram of him and wife Hillary Clinton cuddling baby Charlotte when she was born in September, admitted that the birth of his daughter’s little girl had also helped him come to terms with aging.

"It's a great feeling, it's part of the rhythm of life," he explained. "It helps you come to terms in a really positive way, with your own mortality. It's just a joyful experience. I love it. I'm so happy," he added.

DeGeneres then got a little cheeky with Clinton, trying to use his appearance on the show to get some inside knowledge on whether or not his wife would be running for President in 2016.

The comedian presented her guest with two baby onesies, one emblazoned with the words "My Grandma's a Stay at Home Granny," the other "My Grandma's Running For President in 2016."

Clinton laughed and refused to be drawn on which baby outfit would be most fitting for his young granddaughter.

"I do want to say something seriously, but I don't know what Hillary's going to do," the proud grandfather insisted. "It's true. If I did, I wouldn't tell you, but I don't know."
