About

Bill Clinton served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He won against Republican candidate George H. W. Bush in 1992 and defeated Republican candidate Bob Dole in 1996. Before he was elected to the White House, Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1992.

Clinton’s second term in office was overshadowed by his affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Multiple women subsequently accused Clinton of sexual misconduct, including rape, harassment and sexual assault, and Clinton was impeached in December 1998 on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.

After leaving office, Clinton created the Clinton Foundation and remained active in the Democratic Party. He publicly supported his wife, Hillary Clinton, during her 2008 and 2016 presidential campaigns.

The couple met while studying at Yale University and got married in 1975. They welcomed their daughter, Chelsea, in 1980.
