Wrong guy! Billy Zane is confused why he suddenly has a plethora of crying teenage girls as fans. The Titanic star poked fun at Zayn Malik’s emotional One Direction exit in a video for Funny or Die, telling fans that although he appreciates the love, he’d like to point out they’re spelling his name wrong.
“I woke up to a real spike in [my] awareness…this whole hashtag ‘always in our hearts Zayn’…I had no idea all my fans were hysterical teenage girls,” Zane tells the camera while scrolling through an iPad.
"I don't want to be nitpicky, but just for the sake of record, it's Z-A-N-E, not Z-A-Y-N," the actor clarifies after reading a series of emotional tweets about the 22-year-old’s exit from the mega-successful boy band.
Zane’s confusion comes after even the Boston mayor addressed the world’s One Direction loss.
"We are all devastated about Zayn Malik," Mayor Marty Walsh tweeted on Wednesday, March 25, “But we must soldier on."
