Forget those breakup rumors — at least for now.

Although sources say the couple is unhappy behind closed doors, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie enjoyed a night out together at the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday in Los Angeles.

The couple — who dined together in their first public appearance together in more than a month — attended the ceremony so that Pitt, 46, could present an award to his Inglourious Basterds director, Quentin Tarantino.

Jolie, who wore a viridian green one-shoulder Elie Saab gown with gold hoop earrings, and Pitt cuddled at the table they shared with the director. A source tells UsMagazine.com that they were more "affectionate" than usual.

"They would whisper in each other’s ears and laugh," the source says. "They looked really happy."

Jolie, 34, even beamed with pride, the source says, when Pitt — in a trimmed-up version of his scraggly beard — took the stage to honor Tarantino.

"He is a joy to work for and he is a joy to work with and if you have happened to have forgotten what you loved about movies in the first place, I tell you, you only have to spend one night with Quentin!" Pitt said, laughing. "Not in that way!"

Still, sources tell Us that the couple spent last weekend apart and have been having relationship trouble because Jolie feels she is shouldering the parental burden of their six kids, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 3, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18 months.
