Brad Pitt attended his first public event since splitting from Angelina Jolie on Tuesday, November 8.
The Allied actor, 51, hosted a private L.A. screening for the film Moonlight, which is backed by his production company, Plan B. He was joined by his longtime friend and Ocean’s Eleven and The Mexican costar Julia Roberts.
Pitt was all smiles as he kept close to Roberts, 49, and posed with the film’s writer-director, Barry Jenkins, and star Trevante Rhodes. He wore a plaid shirt and rocked some grizzled scruff.
Pitt has been keeping a low profile since Jolie filed for divorce on September 19. That same month, he canceled a promotional appearance for his film Voyage of Time to focus on his “family situation.”
As previously reported, Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce filing. Additionally, she asked for and received temporary sole physical custody of their six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Earlier this week, Jolie’s rep told Us that the estranged couple reached an agreement over their children. The kids will remain in Jolie’s custody and Pitt, who continues to retain shared legal custody, will have visitation rights.
The news came days after Pitt filed for joint physical and legal custody of the children. According to a Jolie insider, the latest development — which has yet to be filed in their divorce — is not temporary.
A legal source, however, told Us that the new agreement “doesn’t make sense in light of” Pitt’s filing. "Brad’s filing demonstrates that he’s going to fight for the kids," an insider told Us. "His filing shows that he is going to stand firm on sharing custody of the kids. It’s a clear sign that he’s going to fight for his right for the kids."
